Charismatek’s
Function Point WORKBENCH™ (FPW) is a Windows-based tool
that expedites function point analysis by providing facilities to
store, update, and analyze individual counts. This tool uniquely
maintains function point counts through a graphical representation
of the system or project under analysis. Similar to a decomposition
diagram, FPW provides intuitive graphical support for the counting
process of a base system or an enhancement to an existing application.
FPW provides expert advice and documented counting
rules. All elements of a function point count can be recorded, cross-referenced,
and annotated with user notes. Additionally, the International Function
Point Users Group (IFPUG)
has certified the product.
Through its labeling feature, this tool provides a
significant extension to conventional ways of viewing and understanding
function point analysis. Functionality in a system or project can
be tagged with user-defined attributes to illuminate almost any
business issue. As an example, labeling can be used by project managers
and customers to balance the naturally opposing forces of resource
limitations and delivered functionality.
