SPR Course Offerings
SPR offers IFPUG-certified courses in Function Point Analysis (FPA) methodology using the latest version of the IFPUG Counting Practices Manual. An important part of learning is hands-on workshops with case studies. a hands-on workshop featuring instructor-led mentoring (counting activity) to help participants solidify their knowledge.
The focus of the SPR FPA Course is to educate participants about the concepts, rules, and techniques of Function Point Analysis using the latest rules. Topics covered by the instructor include counting techniques, administration of the counting activity, documentation, tools used to support counting, and use of FPA to address advanced technologies such as embedded and real-time software, data warehouse, ERP systems, and infrastructure (middleware.)
In addition, courses present concrete ways that FPA is used in prediction of software project effort (project estimation) and other management techniques. Courses combine instruction (lecture) and hands-on workshops to familiarize participants with the rules and give practice in using rules to determine function point size (via case examples.) Participants gain an understanding of the definitions, rules and approach, and this is supplemented with a number of illustrative case studies.
